If you’ve ever considered a micro-wedding or an elopement please let this inspire you!
I am seriously head over heels bonkers for this couple and their wedding day… and their dog – Cosmo.
Laurel + Chris came to Sisters for a weekend at Five Pine Lodge with 2 other couples who are in their covid bubble.
…you know what? I’m just going to let Laurel and Chris talk because I can’t even wrap my head around how amazing they are and how much fun it was to photograph their joy!
What was your favorite part of the day?
[Laurel] My favorite part of the day was the time we spent together before our ceremony doing our first look. I was filled with butterflies the moments leading up to seeing Chris, but once I saw him, everything quieted. I love that our first look was private so that I was able to take in everything the moment he first saw me. I loved that we had a little bit of time together before our ceremony to calm our nerves and to feel the magnitude of the day together.
[Chris] My favorite part of the day was right before everything kicked off. After getting everything situated and all dressed I felt like the stress actually went down and the fun was starting. The first look was definitely one of the highlights of the day, and getting out to the mountains to take some beautiful photographs was probably the icing on the cake. Don’t be afraid to adventure out, the pictures are forever and will be well worth it.
What are you most looking forward to in married life?
[Laurel] More than anything, I’m looking forward to doing life with Chris. I can’t wait for all of the big things like growing our family and building a home together, but I’m also looking forward to the regular day-to-day aspects of our life (drinking coffee together in the mornings, walking Cosmo together, our adventures). Knowing that we’re both in it for the long haul is so sweet!
[Chris] I’m looking forward to the unknown. Not knowing where our careers are going to take us, geographically and professionally, or how many kids and pets we will have, or what life is going to look like 10 years from now, but doing and experiencing all of those things together.
What advice would you offer to other couples?
[Laurel] We were a bit apprehensive about eloping because we knew how excited our families were to see us get married and celebrate with us. While we still plan to do a post-covid celebration with our loved ones, I’m so glad we decided to do what we wanted and what felt right for us. I would say listen to your gut and try to make the day about you as much as possible! I love looking back on our special day and knowing that we made all of our wedding planning decisions with us in mind. The day flies by, so try to make sure the two of you have some alone time to take it all in and feel the magnitude of the day together.
[Chris] Not everything is going to go as planned…if you are aware of this early on, it makes the day so much less stressful. Also, eloping is the way to go! Although we were planning a much larger wedding, our day was so special and intimate with only our very closest friends which made it feel so much about us and our new journey.
