I don’t even know where to start with these two.
One of the benefits of being from a small community is that you know everyone, and even if you don’t know everyone personally you’re only a degree or two away from them. Such was the case with Sarah. Our Moms went to school together and we all know how Moms like to gush about their kids. I imagine it went something like this…
“My daughter just got engaged!”
“Yay!”
“Do you know a good photographer?”
“Why yes I do… “
Sarah + Ben are such a joy to be with. They’re excited about everything, super organized, thoughtful, creative, and …oh yea CRAZY IN LOVE! We got together last January for their engagement session and I knew that this was going to be such a good match. Ben loves to make her laugh which is completely infectious; they’re both total dorks and always doing silly things.
Their wedding day had so many personal elements. Photos of their grandparents, heirloom household items from their families, handmade decor representing their original long-distance love from Oregon to California, lawn games with straw bale furniture, and of course Sarah’s Dad made them giant S&B marque lights. Everything had a meaning and a place in their hearts. They chose a finished barn on some rural property in Shedd, Oregon that belongs to a friend of Sarah’s family. The main house and property as a whole has a well polished ranch-lodge feel to it; full of western and agriculture pieces, Pendleton blankets, vintage cars, and a whiskey bar. I’m completely convinced that The Iron Ranch could be a full time wedding venue if the residents felt so inspired.
The first look was my favorite part of the day! They were so excited to see each other… Ben started doing a little “I’m so excited!” dance when he turned around to see her. Lol!!! Of course they were also both anxious to see ….the back.
When it was time for the ceremony Sarah’s Dad escorted her out of a sweet vintage black Cadillac while Ben played a song he wrote for her as she walked down the aisle. There was not a single person that didn’t make the Awwwww – face when they came together. A mutual friend officiated the service, guided them through exchanging rings and saying the vows they wrote to the other. Love poured out from both Sarah and Ben as the committed themselves to each other and promised to always be there no matter what.
Ben and Sarah made their way back to the reception via an antique fire truck …seriously. It was a big hit with all their guests! They walked in to start their really sweet first dance followed by dancing with Sarah’s Dad and Ben’s Mom. Some teary toasts by family expressing what everyone what thinking; the whole room was smiling ear to ear so happy that these two found each other and wishing them the very very best. As the sun got lower the temperatures finally started to drop – it was a really hot summer – and everyone enjoyed the lawn games, dancing, dinner, and general good times on the ranch. The limo-shuttle arrived and the after-party people left for Downtown Corvallis.
Congratulations Sarah + Ben!!!
