I knew that I was going to love working with Victoria + Chris for their wedding when we had so much fun during their engagement session. …and when they were willing to hang out for 3 hours waiting for a fireworks display ( <<< Click here to read all about that “adventure”)… and I wasn’t wrong. Their love and thoughtfulness filled the whole day with sweet gestures, presents, laughter, and kisses.
A cold humid morning in early January set the scene for their romantic winter wedding. Family and friends busily prepared the main floor for the reception later that evening while the girls worked on hair and make up on the 4th floor. The guys arrived soon after and I got to work on photographing all the little details that were special and important to their relationship, celebration, and style. One of the obstacles when working on a winter evening wedding is that it gets dark waaaaay before ceremony. 99% (I would say 100% but then someone would comment to the contrary) of couples here in the PNW want the bulk of their portraits with each other, wedding party, and family done outside and/or during the day time to show off the beautiful scenery of their venue and take advantage of the awesome natural light that graces our region. In these scenarios two things must happen: 1. First look. Even if a couple is really set on not having a first look, they will usually compromise on this point if it means saving time after the ceremony and having the day time portraits that they wanted. 2. A serious gap between end of portrait time (sunset) and ceremony time. For Victoria + Chris this meant a 2 1/2 hour gap for their 7:00pm ceremony time. …but don’t forget that this time can be used to snack, fix make-up, enjoy time with your wedding party, and calm your tummy before saying “I do!”
My favorite part of their wedding day …ok ok I have 4 favorites. There’s photos for 3 of my favorites, but not for my most-most favorite: After all the guests were seated for the ceremony an audio track began to play. It was Victoria + Chris talking about how their relationship began, how it grew, and how happy they were to begin their lives together. It was interview style, but without the interviewer asking questions. You know it’s good when people are laughing and crying before the actual wedding as even started! Watch for commentary in the photos below for my other 3 favs.
Congratulations to Victoria + Chris!!!
