You know it was a good wedding day when the crowd was rowdy enough to create great reception photography, but well mannered enough to not break anything – so it was for Madi + Scott.
In the middle of sweltering August Madi + Scott brought friends and family together to celebrate their love and commitment to each other… Even Madi’s brother who is out of the country on deployment joined in via ipad skype. It was my first time photographing a Catholic ceremony and let me tell you the best thing about it – there is no shortage of time to get all the shots you could ever want for the ceremony since the service also includes a mass. Pro Tip: The kiss isn’t at the end of a Catholic service… more like 3/4 of the way through, and the priest might be blocking your view if you planned on shooting from the center aisle.
After a morning of breakfast, primping, and dressing it was time for the wedding. Madi + Scott opted to not do a first look to keep with tradition and Madi was walked down the aisle by her parents and digital brother. Scott was BEAMING when he saw his beautiful bride and throughout the whole ceremony they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other. It was clear that they were more in love than ever!
They were greeted outside St. Mary’s Church by a pair of Clydesdale horses pulling a carriage!!! Madi mentioned it, sort of in passing to her mother, who then ran with the idea. The horses and driver took the newly weds to their reception location at The Vue in Downtown Corvallis where their guests would arrive shortly. …but first SUPERHEROES! Scott and his Groomsmen had long planned to wear superhero shirts under their dress-shirts with matching socks; even one of the bridesmaids (Scott’s sister) was in on it with her Super Girl cape!
A wonderful reception began with dinner and tearful toasts, followed by cake cutting, bouquet tossing, garter snapping, and lots of dancing. …and having one of your BFFs play a song he wrote for you on your wedding day. …and MORE dancing under The Vue’s iconic balcony with twinkle light ceiling. Congratulations!!!
