Happy New Year!!!
I’ve been wanting to post these photos for a couple weeks, but decided to wait and start my 2014 blog with this beautiful couple. <3
We got some snow in the Willamette Valley in early December; you know the kind: powdery, crystalline snow that won’t ball to make a snowman, but will compress on the street to shut down your whole town. Yea, that kind. I was actually excited though. It meant that we could have the winter wonderland snowy session we wanted for Erika + Matt without having to drive to Mt. Hood… unfortunately you can never count on Oregon, especially the valley, to do what you want and all the snow was gone before their session date came around. We decided to stick with the Mary’s Peak plan and were rewarded with crisp earth tones, a romantic on/off layer of mist, and a magical sunset as we headed back into Philomath.
Speaking of Philomath, that’s where I first met Erika… in 2nd grade. 🙂
Even at age 7 in Mrs. Price’s class Erika was a beauty. She was a small town girl with piercing eyes who, as I recall, LOVED horses. Hahaha! A lot has changed since then, but in so many ways they’ve stayed the same. Erika has really grown into herself and is more stunning and confident than ever. I can sorta tell (don’t ask me how) that Matt is the same way. As a photographer it is always heart warming to see two people in love, who are confident in themselves as individuals, and therefore can be all the more dedicated to each other. One of the things that draws Matt to Erika are her small town roots – it’s one of the things they have in common – though Matt’s small (home) town is 3,000 miles away in Maine. They are a kind, playful couple, whose chemistry nearly burned a hole in my camera. Our session was made all the more fun with their Boxer, Blake, who provided endless doggy cuteness and entertainment.
Matt + Erika met at a Portland restaurant where we plan to do a second session later this summer. Congratulations!

Check out what Matt is up to at Creative Craft PDX …Erika too at B-Glowing <3
