Erin + Zach’s River Meets Ocean Wedding | Waldport, Ore.

early morning clouds and view of waldport oregon bridge from across the bay
What a perfect beginning for the next chapter in the adventure that is Erin + Zach. Seriously, this wedding was just perfect. Erin + Zach with the help of family and friends planned an intimate river meets ocean themed wedding and reception. Erin is finishing her masters in Marine Biology, while Zach is an avid fly-fisherman; river meets ocean. The service was held on the back lawn at the Soul Vacation Resort, a yoga retreat hotel, overlooking where the Alsea River meet the Pacific Ocean in Waldport Bay. With only the Waldport Bridge in the background they stood close with friends by their sides and family seated in the crowd. They were married by their good friend Cloud Davidson {local celeb and Zach’s boss} with Zach’s niece and nephew as flower-girl and ring-bearer. There wasn’t a dry eye within ear shot as Cloud delivered an emotional and heart felt service that brought both Erin + Zach to tears {…and me}.

The wedding, mini-reception {at the coast}, and reception at Cloud + Kelly’s was full of personal touches. Zach’s mom, Phoenix, made 150 different floral napkins – one for each place setting – as well as handkerchiefs for the ladies and the ring pouch for Zach’s nephew. Wow! The newly weds put together the centerpieces with shells collected by his niece and nephew, local wine corks, and flies hand-tied by Zach. He also hand tied all the boutonnieres… Sorry ladies, he’s taken. Friends brought – a lot – home brewed beer and wine for the main reception; which was lovingly coordinated by friend Raina Powell, with friends also rockin’ the turnables {Thanks Travis, JD, and Chris} all night! Erin + Zach have a Love Story that is full of twists and turns. They met about 10 years ago in Ft. Collins, CO. At the time Zach was Erin’s boss at a local brew pub and both of them were in their own relationships. They became good friends and confidants over the next FIVE years, then Erin moved to Florida for six months for a research position. After she came back and Zach was dating someone else she went to Texas for a couple months… which turned into a year when she got a sweet gig at an aquarium. Still with me? When she came back to Ft. Collins to be in a friend’s wedding and saw ({single} Zach there they wasted no time telling each other how they felt, but Erin needed more… she needed proof! Within the week Zach bought a plane ticket to Texas and took her to see Austin City Limits “Nothing says romance like 140 different bands.” They were hooked on each other! Which is why they could pull off the long distance thing when Erin moved to Oregon. After a year of long phone calls and last minute plane ticket purchases Zach moved to Oregon and “(they’ve) been smitten kittens ever since!” The End.
